Business Research by Yosemite Consultants
Following are two examples of business research performed by Yosemite Consultants. The final reports for these business research projects are included following a brief description of each project. 1. Analysis of the 2003 Altamont Pass Commuter Survey - The purpose of this study was to identify characteristics of people that live within the San Joaquin Valley and work in the San Francisco area to determine the incentives necessary to attract these people to jobs in the San Joaquin Valley. Statistical analysis was performed on over 1,000 surveys of commuters that traveled over the Altamont Pass to work. Surveys were taken from bus, van and Ace train passengers. Statistical differences between the passengers based on the mode of transportation were investigated. The results of the 2003 survey were compared to the results from a 2000 survey to identify changes in passenger characteristics between the two surveys.
2. Fresno County Minority Business and Emerging Markets Report - The purpose of this study was to gain a better understanding of business and economic activity in minority communities. The minority community selected to build a model of understanding is largely Southeast Asian living in southeast Fresno. The study analyzed current economic conditions to determine the best path for transforming the community into a more viable economy. Additionally, this study investigated the desirability of transforming southeast Fresno businesses into an economic entity similar to successful minority communities in other regions of the country. This business research was done with Dr. LoXing Kiatoukaysi under the direction of Dr. Timothy Stearns of the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship which is affiliated with California State University, Fresno. This research was performed using five research tools:
